Strange for people to be describing a good experience and giving 3 stars. Food here is tasty, quick, prices include tax for the dinner set courses, AND includes rice, soup, dessert. Currently the best value place I've gone to. Saved in favourite and will now be a go-to.

I don't have anything to complain about. Food was excellent. Give you house soup, rice and dessert. Great takeout combos. Great value. Cash only. Helps if you speak/ read Chinese. Recommend Thousand Island Shrimp.

Good Chinese food Nice service, loaded plates

Freddie Wong, a prominent YouTuber and Tiktoker once said that the best way to find value for Chinese restaurants is looking for those in the 3-Star range. The service may be somewhat lacking (depending on who you ask), but the food is comforting and exactly what you want. Nowhere else comes to mind more than Alton Chinese Restaurant. A bit rough around the edges, but not more so than a lot of your very traditional Chinese restaurants where the decor is outdated, walls are plastered with dish names on colourful paper, and the menu boasts a large assortment of food ranging from congee to stir fry to Hong Kong-style Western cutlets and baked pasta. All at reasonable and affordable prices that come to your table quickly after order and surprisingly hasn't changed much even after a pandemic increased all costs of goods. The servers are brisk and less than gentle, but not unkind and quite observant with their service. Where else can families of all varieties come at all times for a small tea, a light snack, or a large family meal, while basking in the rage of the boss lady spitting bars of Chinese vulgarity at her servers? Everyone is treated like family and you come to Alton Chinese Restaurant to get that full experience. It's not a surprise that the Chinese name for this restaurant literally means, "For the People."

Awesome food, very authentic. The value is unbelieveable here. Also the bonus of a prize at the end depending on how much you spend is hilarious, makes you want to come back to win it all!

First time here ...wow did not know this place was so busy for a Saturday. Food was really fresh and tasty.... 6 to 7 adults for 90 bucks is very good at this time .. Worth coming back

Good was excellent. Service was great. I did have to ask for fork and knife.

Brilliant and authentic HK/ Cantonese style dishes! One of my favourite restaurants in Toronto. I can taste the wok in their dishes. My favourite dish is the lobster, it’s so juicy and tender. Also the HK style milk tea is a must try, it’s rich and smooth. Reasonable price. Cash only though yet highly recommended!
